FLAG FOOTBALL EVALUATIONS AND DRAFT - FOR CO-ED FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE ONLY
Evaluations will include testing in agility, throwing the ball, catching the ball, blocking, flag-pulling, and running. Head coaches and one assistant coach from each team will assign each player a score at evaluations based on each tested skill. Coach evaluation scores will be averaged and distributed to all coaches before the draft. Head coaches and one assistant coach from each team will meet to draft players before the season starts. The league strives to create balanced teams to ensure fun and fair play.
Teams generally have between 10-12 kids. Each team is required to have at least 10 players – as long as there are enough kids registered in that division. Since every player is required to get at least 10 plays (mandatory play rule (MPR)), smaller teams are preferred; but with kids often playing multiple sports, teams need to make sure they can afford to miss a player or two.
There are no guarantees for kids to play on the same team or with a specific coach. To have the best chance of creating a team with kids from a specific school or group you should sign up to be a head coach or assistant so that you can control your draft. As head coach, you get to pick the players (if available & subject to the draft), your assistant coaches, and practice times! Even if you’ve never played or coached football — we’ll help you get started and set up a coaching mentorship with an experienced league coach (by request). We would love to have your help as we cannot run this league without volunteers!
